HLTAID014 Provide Advanced First Aid

Course Description

Training is crucial to handle high-risk situations, such as multiple casualties, moving or rescuing injured people, and providing treatment for life-threatening illnesses and injuries. It’s essential to know how to respond during a real-life incident.

This course offers hands-on practice in lifelike scenarios to learn and build confidence in coordinating and managing a response, as well as administering advanced first aid according to legal, community, and workplace regulations until emergency services arrive. The course also follows the guidelines of the Australian Resuscitation Council and other national clinical organizations.

The training will cover the fundamentals of first aid and CPR. Additionally, you will become familiar with complex conditions like hypothermia and hyperthermia and learn about injuries concerning the head, neck, and spine. You will learn how to use a tourniquet and haemostatic dressing to treat life-threatening bleeding and how to manage a casualty experiencing shock. You will also learn how to document workplace incidents, record the condition of casualties, and conduct debriefing sessions to identify ways to improve and address psychological impacts. Additionally, it covers seeking professional psychological help if necessary.
